HB Vineyard Riesling
Made with raw Riesling stock from the Finger Lakes.
Originated in the Rhine region of Germany.
Typically un-oaked (as ours) an displaying flowery and perfume aromas.
Can be made into dry, semi-sweet, sweet and sparking wines.  Ours is semi-sweet.
Ranked in the top three as far as quality white wines, along with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
The most expensive wines made from Riesling are Late Harvest Dessert Wines made from grapes which have been allowed to sit on the vine past normal harvest time.  The grapes then are taken over by ‘noble rot’.  Noble Rot causes the water in the grapes to evaporate, increasing the natural sugars and, in turn, the alcohol content as well.
Riesling grapes are extremely thin-skinned and delicate.  They must be handled with extreme care during harvesting, for any bruising negatively affects the quality of the wine and produces a coarse flavor.
